Quieter Replacement Fans?

Post by Dillington »

Anyone know a brand/model or link to a Quieter fan? If these fans are going to run 24/7 I at least want something that I won't hear running. Thanks.

EDIT: looking to replace the default 80x80x20 2pin case fans with something quieter.

Also....will 80mmx10mm or 15mm or 25mm fans fit as well?

here is what one of our customer did
and we Quote
" I took it upon myself to replace this fan with the following quiet one.

Evercool EC8020M12CA 80X80X20MM BALL BEARING FAN, (you can find it on ebay)

It has to be 80x80x20mm or it won't fit right. (most fans are 25mm) It took me awhile to find the one above.

You'll have to manually cut, strip, join the wires together yourself.
Just get some crimp on 22 gauge wire butt connectors. (also cheap on ebay)

My ProBox is now SILENT! (and AirFlow feels ok) I'm keeping my fan on Automatic. If you want to put it on MEDIUM it's still quiet though!

I highly recommend this mod for anyone that wants it quieter"

Did you find a good replacement fan that fits correctly? I was thinking about getting one of these:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005C31GIA/re ... 92994&sr=3

Seems to be the only cheap "name brand" fan I can find <25mm thick on Amazon

EDIT: Want to point that this fan (and pretty much every 80mm fan I saw) comes with a three-pin connector, which shouldn't be an issue if I understand correctly (you just ignore the third pin that communicates fan speed data or something).

did you ever get that fan Dandaman? I really don't want to mod one, would be nice if I could get one that worked right out of the box.

For those of you with noisy fans, I have managed to find a stock 3-pin to 2-pin adaptor and a silent cooling fan. Finding the adaptor took much googling. It is available from Aliexpress.com and is part number "ARSYLID Conversion cable 3 pin to 2 pin 2.0mm adapter fan for VGA cooling fan 2pin micro-2pin". It ships from China and takes a few weeks to get to the U.S. The cooling fan I chose is Cooler Master Sleeve Bearing 80mm Silent Fan for Computer Cases and CPU Coolers, available from Amazon. The fan is totally silent.
